British producer and DJ Jim Coles' work as Om Unit is an intricate yet fluid hybrid of several forms of bass-heavy electronic music.
Initially debuting the Om Unit moniker in 2009 with material which leaned closer to dubstep and slow-motion house grooves and electronic hip-hop, his work grew increasingly complex and harder to define with releases such as 2013's full-length Threads LP occupying its own sonic territory.
Notable as one of the first producers to fuse juke/footwork with jungle via his ‘Philip D Kick’ alias, some of his music shows a clear reverence for the hardcore continuum while simultaneously bringing fresh ideas to the table.
Om Unit has released material on well-regarded labels such as Metalheadz, R+S Berceuse Heroique, Terrorhythm and Astrophonica as well as self-releasing a much-lauded string of titles including his much loved recent ‘Acid Dub Studies’ LP.

General forward-facing Q & A + advice.
it was really inspiring and professional. i've got not only technical advice but also career advice and that's a big plus for me. I met new musicians, learnt new tricks and found new purpose. All of this throughout well balanced sessions. Very good value. Just a big leap in terms of what I understood was possible with Ableton.
Jim <3 is an incredible teacher and a wonderful person. Always up to help anyone even with more philosophical and psychological matters. Also the community was a big plus for me, the other folks were amazing. Jim as an instructor was top. Approachable, easy to listen to, smart, efficient. His knowledge and enthusiasm was very inspiring, and I particularly enjoyed the mix feedback session.
After the course i felt more inspired and determined than ever. I wanted to learn more. Gain inspiration. Find direction. I got those and more. It far exceeded my expectations, I loved the course.
